Mishkat Media is a division of the Muslim Academic Trust, a registered UK Charity (No. 1065784). All profits from Mishkat Media's Travelling Light project and all other products will be donated to the new mosque through the Trust.

The name is inspired by the famous 'Light Verse' of the Holy Qur'an in which Allah describes the nature of His Divine Light, and which also inspired the title of Imam al-Ghazali's work Mishkat al-Anwar (Niche of the Lights):

"Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth;
The similitude of His Light is as if there were a niche (mishkat);
And within it a lamp: the lamp enclosed in glass;
The glass as it were a glittering star;
Lit from a blessed tree;
An olive, neither of the East nor of the West;
Whose oil is nigh luminous, though no fire has touched it;
Light upon Light; Allah guides to His Light whom He wills.
And Allah strikes similitudes for men, and Allah has knowledge of everything"
