Series 5 with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Released

Series V of the Travelling Light DVD series in aid of the Cambridge New Mosque Project is now available.
The fifth installment of covers Books 1 & 21 of Imam al-Ghazali's masterwork The Revivial of the Religious Sciences (Ihya 'Ulum al-Din) which are: On Knowledge; and Wonder of the Heart.
The lessons were given by renowned American scholar Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and filmed at the historic Tekke of Karabas-i Veli in Bursa. The films also include traditional praise songs, or ilahis, performed by Bursa’s most popular group of religious singers, the Bursa Türk Musigi Toplulugu.
As always, all profits from the sale of the Travelling Light series go to the Cambridge New Mosque Project.

The fourth installment of covers Books 23-26 of Imam al-Ghazali's masterwork The Revival of the Religious Sciences (Ihya 'Ulum al-Din) which are: The Breaking of the Two Desires; The Vices of the Tongue; Anger, Hatred & Envy; and On Worldliness. The lessons were given by renowned Nigerian-American scholar Sidi Muhammad Adeyinka Mendes and filmed at the Grand Mosque in Dakar.
This series also features an interview with Serigne Cheikhouna Lo N'Gabou, a direct descendent of Shaykh Amdou Bamba and author of the major Wolof translation of the Qur'an, and nasheeds performed by Sope Dabakh, a group dedicated to the traditional Senegalese style of Islamic praise singing.

The Mawlid of Imam al-Barzanji

Mishkat Media has released a beautiful live recording of the celebrated Mawlid of Imam al-Barzanji. A classic of Islamic culture, it is a sung celebration of the birth and greatness of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The recording was made in Cape Town at the annual Mawlid Jama’at at the Al-Zawiya mosque, under the direction of Shaykh Seraj Hendricks.
The performance is available on DVD, with full English subtitles of the Arabic recitation as well as several bonus features, including an explanation by Shaykh Seraj on ‘Understanding the Mawlid’. It is also available as an MP3 with the recitation of the mawlid only.
Like all Mishkat Media products, all profits go to the Cambridge New Mosque Project!

Cambridge New Mosque Project will have a stall at the Global Peace & Unity event this weekend 23rd & 24th October at the Excel centre in London.

Series 3 Released

Travelling Light Series 3 is now available, with more inspiring spiritual guidance and uplifting sights and sounds. Filmed at the historic Al-Zawiya mosque in Cape Town, the latest lessons are delivered by renowned South African scholar Shaykh Seraj Hendricks. The series also features music from Zain Bikha, Yusuf Ganief and the Cape Town Singers.
